Dr. Annette Detken
Head of ISF & Global Shield Solutions Platform, InsuResilience Solutions Fund
Annette Detken is heading the Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance Competence Center at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. The Competence Centre manages the InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF), the Global Shield Solutions Platform (GSSP) and the Global Risk Modelling Alliance (GRMA), three grant facilities to support Climate and Disaster Risk Finance and Insurance. Responsible for establishing and implementing the ISF, the GRMA programme and the GSSP at Frankfurt School, Annette has worked closely with a wide spectrum of stakeholders active in climate and disaster risk finance and insurance.
In her role, she serves as an advisor to governments, international development agencies, private sector entities and academic institutions on the relevance of climate risk analysis as well as climate risk finance and insurance in closing the financial protection gap.
Annette studied economics and finance at the University of St. Gallen and the NYU Stern School of Business. After her PhD studies at the University of Basel and the Study Center Gerzensee she worked for KfW from 1999 to 2019 in various departments focusing on financial sector development and innovative climate finance instruments.
In The Future of Capitalism: facing the new anxieties, (2017), and Greed is Dead, (2020), co-authored with Professor Sir John Kay, he attacked the misdirection of public policy and private business that has caused avoidable polarisation and the decline of poor regions.
He advises local and national governments on practical ways of regional renewal. His book, The Future of the Left Behind, (published in Britain, the USA and Germany), draws on global examples of success.
